Conan O'Brien on Chris Rock Show
Although the fight has probably been even better for ratings and has definitely kept audiences entertained during stand-ups, The Daily Best reports the Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien war is ending — Conan is leaving.
The Daily Beast reports that the three-way war between NBC, Conan and Leno is coming to end.
According to a outlines of a settlement, Conan will leave NBC and the network will pay him an unspecified amount. Conan then will be able to appear elsewhere on television before his contract is up.
While there is still time for the negotiation to not happen, it sounds like a deal that NBC would want to make to end the war, the Daily Beast reports.
According to reports, the Universal film studio chief, Ron Meyer, may have played a part in bringing Conan and Jay together to talk things out.
The agreement came down to how much money NBC would give to Conan, a source reported, which would likely stay confidential between parties.
An insider said NBC Universal started out sincerely wanting to be able to keep Conan on NBC in a 12:05 a.m. slot behind Leno, who will be reinstated at 11:35 p.m. But, executives finally realized that plan was unrealistic.
According to OkMagazine.Com, it is still unknown where Conan would go next, thought the most obvious option would be Fox, but if that were to happen it would take months before he was on the air.
