Video Script:

For once the British film industry had something to sing and dance about in 2009. They kicked off a tremendous year with the help of Danny Boyle, whose movie Slumdog Millionaire scooped eight Oscars. Kate Winslet was also rewarded with a Best Actress Academy Award for her part in The Reader.

In April, the world witnessed the the birth of new star. Susan Boyle rose to fame around the world after her audition for Britain's Got Talent received millions of hits on YouTube.

Other newcomers included Jedward. X Factor's Irish twins, John and Edward Grimes, were the marmite act of the TV talent show, dividing the nation by remaining in the competition for seven weeks.

2009 was less of a success for Katie Price. The star and singer Peter Andre were granted a divorce. The glamour model and business woman also endured another stint on reality series I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, but walked out after being picked by the public to do most of the trials.

It was also a year that Chris Brown would love to forget. The R&B star was convicted of assaulting Rihanna after a fight in February and received five years probation and six months of community service.
